Karaoke is a form of entertainment that provides the words and music to a song that then allows any Tom Dick Or Harry the opportunity to sing that song because the words are visible (usually by being on a TV screen) for Tom Dick or Harry to see and the music for the song is audible.
What as all this got to do with this page I hear you ask,
well I'll tell you. Read the next paragarph please.
My aim is to produce for you,
on this page
a facility that meets the criteria spelt out in the first paragraph, by this I mean the opportunity for you the visitor to this website and to this page in particular to sing a song with the words and music on your computer screen. In addition the facility to play non karaoke music as well.
But will it be Karaoke?, well I have to admit that it will not be the Harryoke type of Karaoke with TV screens and speakers and discs and all the stuff that you all know and love, but hey this is only a computer after all,
(what is that to the right?)
there WILL be music, there WILL be words, you can even plug a mike in if you want too!!!!!!!!, but it is not true karaoke, hence the title of the page, go back up to the top of the page and have a look if you cant remember it.
So how do I acheive this aim ?, well it's quite simple really.
If you would like to sing just click on any of the titles below that grab your fancy, the words and music for that tune will then pop up, there will not be any visible indication as to which words you should be singing, you'll just have to fit the words into the music, but as I said it's not quite karaoke.
If you can't hear it you may need a "player" to enable you too.
(to see a "boombox", part of the player, click here)
Players for this pupose are readily available and are free, I have a link to Microsofts "Media Player 7" on my links page, just click on over to the links page then click on the Microsoft link there, when you get to Microsofts download page download it to your computer. Easy really.
A couple of things to point out to you before you click on a title.
You need to have your computers speakers on. Yes I know thats obvious but you might have forgotten!!!!
If you can hear E.W.& F.'s
"Boogie Wonderland"
playing in the background
you should'nt have any problem in listening to any of the titles below, however you will have to turn it off so's that you can hear your choice,
To go back to the area of the page you came from click THIS word.
The slightly boring anorak bit.
A message from the site creator (Eddie Hinds) to any of Harrys guests who might want a karaoke player on their own computers (it may even be possible to put it on webTV).
At the time of writing this update I have found a site that will provide a "player" that will produce on your computer the words of a song that change in colour in true karaoke fashion, I now have this player on my computer, it's fantastic and it's FREE.
It is a "player" similar to the one below but with lots more "bits" on it as it plays .kar files as well as .mid files (all of the music on this site is in .mid format)
As mentioned above the .kar player I have on my computer produces on my screen the words of the song highlighted with a different colour just as Harryokes player does. The .kar files that the player needs are downloadable for free from sites around the internet. I have created a page on another site that gives you all the information on how to get this player, just click on Jivin Julies Site for more details.
