Burns Night, 2006.
The Wishing Well, Hounslow, is known locally as an Irish pub, off course people from all parts of the world are amongst it's many customers not least of which are our friends from Scotland.

On the 25th January 1759 Robert  Burns was born in Alloway Ayrshire, which as you all know is in Scotland.

On each of the 247 January 25th's there have been up to 2006 Scots all over the world have celebrated the great mans birthday, and the Scots who frequent The Wishing Well are no exception.

This well known watering hole, famed for it's Irish music and Irish  hospitality, decided to dedicate an evening to it's many Scottish customers in the form of "An Audience With Harryoke And Friends" on Burns night, January 25th, 2006 and in the process raise funds.

Both Irish and Scottish patrons (and a liberal sprinkling of people from everywhere else) were entertained by Harryoke, indeed all were amazed when Harryoke, complete with bagpipes & resplendent in his kilt, played an assortment of Reels, Hornpipes, and Jigs.

The customers in The Wishing Well that night put their hands deep into their pockets and raised a much needed £170 for a piping school back in county Antrim in Ireland.

A further magnificent £100 was was given by the customers of The Duke Of Wellington pub when Frank & Mary, managers of The Wellington, allowed Harry to pipe there the following Saturday.

The money will go to Bertie Todds "Seven Towers Piping Class", where Harryoke himself was taught to play, too many years ago now to mention.

I thank all who gave so generously over the 2 nights with a special thank you to the managers of both pubs, Frank & Mary at The Wellington and Robert & Hayley at The Wishing Well

Below here can be seen some photographs taken at the fundraising events as well as from other nights and events in both of the pubs and at Harrys other venues.

Can you hear "Flower Of Scotland" ?
This is the "Boombox" that controls the piece of music called "Flower Of Scotland" that you can hopefully hear in the background, if you cannot hear it even with your computers speakers on you probably need a "player" to let you, Microsoft provide for free just what you need and there is a link to them on my Links page.
